- The aim of the Department of Art History is to train competent scientists on the borders of Turkish-Islamic, Byzantine, Western and Contemporary Art. The students included in these schools take part in courses about both Turkish culture and art and other school culture and arts. In this context, they take courses such as pre-Islamic Turkish art, Islamic handicrafts and architecture, Byzantine art, Seljuk art, Ottoman art, aesthetics, mythology and iconography, Western art and contemporary arts, and modern art movements. In addition to the compulsory courses in each class, many elective courses are left to the student's choice. The student has the opportunity to choose the course he/she wants from his/her faculty or another faculty in any class and term. If the student wishes, he/she has the opportunity to complete another section at the same time by being exempted from the common courses to be taken as a "side field".
- A student who graduates from the department has a competent knowledge of Turkish and European architecture, world painting and sculpture art and decorative arts and graduates with the title of “Art Historian”.
