Our department, which was established in October 2011, has started its education life with the students who came with additional quota. There are four departments in our department: Turkish Islamic Art, Byzantine Art, Western Art and Contemporary Art. There are 4 associate professors, 2 doctor faculty members, 4 research assistant doctors and 1 research assistant in our department. The aim of the Art History Department is to train competent scientists in the fields of Turkish-Islamic, Byzantine, Western and Contemporary Art. The students included in this department take courses about both Turkish culture and art and the culture and arts of other countries. In this context, they study courses such as pre-Islamic Turkish art, Turkish-Islamic handicrafts and architecture, Byzantine art, Seljuk art, Ottoman art, aesthetics, mythology and iconography, Western art and contemporary arts, as well as modern art movements. In addition to the compulsory courses in each class, a large number of elective courses are left to the student's choice. Students have the opportunity to choose the course they want from any class and semester, their own faculty or other faculties. At the same time, they can choose any department as a “minor or double major” and be exempt from joint courses. In this way, they will also have the opportunity to complete a different section.
